GCSE MARKING 2002-3 COURSEWORK for ICT GCSE.doc 01-03-03
This is a template I made using EDEXCEL's marking criteria in order to simplify marking and feedback on GCSE coursework. To use it you just start at the left and tick off the things which HAVE been done and either highlight or circle those which might be done to improve the piece of coursework. Pupils are aware that to improve their work they have to move the ticks towards the right...
I also do an A3 version for each coursework project I set, which has callouts on it referring directly to the project in question. This helps to standardise our marking in the school. Margaret Derrington GCSEprep

EDEXCEL GCSE COURSEWORK These sets of worksheets can be issued one at a time as students work through producing a piece of coursework lesson by lesson. Or they can be printed and bound into a booklet for students to work through at their own pace. I usually issue them lesson by lesson and then print out booklets for students to use to revise and improve their coursework or to catch up. EXCEL spreadsheet for a teacher to convert exam marks into GCSE Grades (If LookUp Tables are used a spreadsheet CW is EXTENDED) POWERPOINT presentation for Open Evening about some aspect of school. (If images are cropped, resized or manipulated in image editing software then this will be an EXTENDED piece of Coursework) DTP Booklet for New Pupil or Folder for Estate Agent (If Images are manipulated in image editing software then this counts as an extended piece of coursework. Another way of ‘extending’ it would be to use linked text boxes.) WORD/EXCEL Mailmerge for Morgan’s Theme Park (A Mailmerge makes a Word Processing coursework ‘extended’) ACCESS database for travel agent (If COMPLEX SEARCHES are done then a database counts as an extended piece of coursework. This is generally easier to do than relational database which many students at this level find difficult to understand.) Margaret Derrington.
